Pine Skirting Boards – The Easy, Cost Effective Way of Decorating!

Pine skirting boards are cost effective, adapt to colour and varnish well and are hardy enough to take the kicks and scuffs that an average house or office receives. Then we saw this pic of some guys fitting skirting boards…I think someone should tell them that they should have stopped at the first 120mm! Mind you – a whole wall built of skirting boards? Could look quite cool!

Oak Skirting Boards – How to ‘Victoriana’ Your House

The Victorians invented skirting boards – a lot of houses of that era still carry the original features. But a load of houses were stripped in the fifties and sixties to make way for ‘clean lines’.

Recent years have seen a rise in a fad for Victoriana – elaborate designs, period features and traditional fittings. One of the quickest and easiest ways of doing this is by fitting oak skirting boards and dado rails – cornice work and a ceiling rose will seal the deal!
